Brighten Up

Ok, it’s Election Day.  Halloween is over.  Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year’s are just around the corner.  I can’t believe 2012 is almost over.  The older I get, the faster time flies by.

With the end-of-year holidays come huge gatherings with family and friends, and that means having a lot of photos taken.  Now’s the perfect time to work on whitening up your smile.  Here are two products to consider:

Available in drugstores for about $7 a tube, this toothpaste promises to instantly whiten teeth after just one brushing, with results lasting several hours.  It's gentle and helps remove stains from things like coffee, soda, tea, and wine.

I like that this is a snap to use--just brush your teeth with it like normal toothpaste.  I've noticed modest improvement in tooth color with this without increased sensitivity.  I haven't used it for a long time (only a handful of times so far), so I am hoping that sensitivity doesn't become an issue.  I'll keep you posted if I notice anything negative. If you want a quick boost in whitening, this is a great option (be careful: it IS a bit messy to use for some reason).

The Smile Science pen is a cosmetic solution for people who want just that. A way to whiten their teeth without the expensive, invasive, or time consuming process associated with traditional teeth whitening methods. Developed by dentists, using smile sciences twice daily you can whiten your teeth by several shades within one week.

The Smile Sciences pen is available online for about $78.  Yes, it is expensive, but it is very easy to use.  It feels very science-y and it seems pretty darn effective.
