Beauty Product of the Week: Phenomen'eyes

What is it? Givenchy's red hot, brand new Phenomen'eyes Mascara is "A revolutionary new mascara designed to grip at lashes starting at the roots. Givenchy Phenomen'eyes Mascara perfectly curls and separates lashes. It has a high-tech, patented round sphere at the tip of the precision wand that reaches every lash and adapts to all eye shapes. The result? A beautifully fanned-out panoramic effect, holding the curve of your lashes perfectly in place." Available at Sephora in either black or brown for $27.

What did you think? The design of this mascara wand is what sets it apart from other mascaras in on the market. It looks like a medieval weapon (not a mace, but a flail), and it allows you to coat lashes at every bizarre angle imaginable. It goes on relatively easily, though I find it a bit thick. It made my lashes very long, perfectly curled, and relatively separated. I still ran a comb through my lashes to make sure they were separated.

What was really cool was that I was able to get the corners of my eyes and make a clear definition between my upper and lower lashes. The wand allows for so much flexibility. The design is not only interesting, but it's also functional.

The final verdict? I'm not always one to fall for hyped up products, but Phenomen'eyes is pretty darn good. If you have $27 to spend and you're dying to try something trendy in the world of makeup, this is a great pick. Your lashes will stand out and the unique design of the wand is fun to use, especially if you're a makeup junkie. If you have an upcoming special event and want to highlight your eyes, Phenomen'eyes will do the trick.

I get leary of whacked-out brushes too, since so many I have tried left me wishing for a standard mascara wand. This one is neat though.

I bought this mascara yesterday, and I have to say I'm really disappointed. It's the clumpiest mascara I've EVER used--maybe it's just a bad tube, but this is the worst mascara I've ever used, including the $1.50 bargain bin at Bartells. Am I just applying it wrong, or did my tube get passed over when they were quality checking them?
